Automatic Tank Level Controller Using PLC

    Abstract

This project describes automatic control and monitoring of liquid level using programmable logic controller, a single phase induction motor and a pump controlled by the motor. AC power supply is used to supply the PLC. As the level of the liquid in the tank reaches a certain specified minimum level it is sensed and the PLC sends the control signal and to open the solenoid valve. Then the motor pumps the liquid into the tank on reaching the certain specified maximum level the PLC sends control signal to close the solenoid valve. In this way the liquid level is monitored and the PLC controls the solenoid valve accordingly. The advantages of this system are that is requires less man power, unwanted wastage of liquid is avoided and electrical energy conservation.
