    Automatic Vehicle Identification-Toll Pass System

    Abstract

This project focuses on an electronic toll collection (ETC) system using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The proposed RFID system uses tags that are mounted on the vehicles. Information embedded on the tags is read by RFID readers; the proposed system eliminates the need for motorists and toll authorities to manually perform ticket payments and toll fee collections, respectively. Data information are also easily exchanged between the motorists and toll authorities, thereby enabling a more efficient toll collection by reducing traffic and eliminating possible human errors. This project is going to deal with the Toll gate collection and payment, in order to make the Toll gate collection unmanned. When the vehicle enters into toll gate area, RFID reader reads the information in the RFID tag which is mounted on the vehicle. RFID reader sends the code to the microcontroller. Microcontroller sends the signal to the PC. The PC analyses the code and if it is authorized vehicle, it sends signal to the microcontroller and microcontroller controls the gate controlling section to open the check post gate. The amount will be automatically deducted from the vehicle’s account. The microcontroller program is written in assembly language.
