    DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF POWER GENERATION USING FOOT STEPS


    Abstract

    The project entitled Power generation using footsteps is used to generate electric power from footsteps. The main parts in this project are Rack and pinion, Coil and permanent magnet, rechargeable battery and inverter. When the user walks on the footsteps, the suspensor connected with the steps activates the rack and pinion. The generator is connected with the axis of the pinion. According to Faraday’s law, “As long as there is a change in magnetic flux linked with the coil, an emf is induced”. Thus electric power is produced according to the footsteps of the user. The electric power is not constant because the force derived by each footsteps is different. Thus the electric power is stored in a rechargeable battery. An inverter module is connected with the battery to produce 230V AC.
