    SOLAR REFRIGERATION USING PELTIER EFFECT

    Abstract

Solar energy can be converted into electric energy by means of solar panel. This energy can be stored in a rechargeable battery. The electric energy can be then created into any desired energy. In this project the electric energy is converted in to cool energy using peltier effect. The thermoelectric effect is the direct conversion of temperature differences to electric voltage and vice versa via a thermocouple. A thermoelectric device creates voltage when there is a different temperature on each side. Conversely, when voltage is applied to it, it creates a temperature difference. Here Peltier element is used as thermocouple. When one end of the thermocouple is heated, the other end gets cooled and simultaneously a voltage is developed in the terminals. At the top of the peltier element, an aluminium plate is placed & surrounded by thermocol. Inside the thermocol box, Aluminium sheld is fixed. The aluminium sheld will retain the cooling effect throughout the box. When the two terminals of the thermocouple is powered, the top end will start cooling and the bottom end will start heating. By using suitable heat transfer fan and heat sink setup, the bottom heat is transferred to the surroundings. Thus the top cool will be retained in the aluminium plate. So as time increases, the cooling will be increased.
